On Nov. 6 the City of Carson is holding its General Municipal Election for electing two city council members, with incumbents Lula Davis-Holmes and Elito Santarina running for re-election in a field of nine candidates.
The City was also scheduled to hold elections for both City Clerk and City Treasurer, but no one filed or qualified to run against incumbents Donesia Gause-Aldana or Monica Cooper, positioning both for additional four-year terms.
Here are the council candidates:
Osmond “Oz” Buendia, a business owner
Lula Davis-Holmes, an incumbent councilmember first elected in 2007
Jim Dear, an educator and notary public, who previously served as Mayor and City Clerk from 2001-2016
Louie Diaz, a labor representative who previously applied for an appointment to fill an open council seat in 2016
Sharma Henderson, a nonprofit executive and educator
Lori Noflin, co-founder of Carson Connected.
Nafis Muhammad, a disaster service worker
Ramona “Mona” Pimentel, Planning Commission Chair who previously ran in 2016
