Mayor Robles was originally elected to the WRD in 1992, and later elected to the Carson City Council in 2013. He served on both the city council and water board for five years until 2018, when it was decided that holding both positions at the same time was not permissible under state law. The Albert Robles Center, announced shortly before his departure from the water board last year, will purify about 3.25 billion gallons of recycled water annually. Together, with another 3.6 billion gallons of recycled water, WRD will deliver nearly 7 billion gallons of water to the San Gabriel Coastal Spreading Grounds.
