Q:

Please highlight your community involvement, including any previous appointments or elected offices held, volunteer work or other leadership positions. How have these roles prepared you to lead the City of Carson as Council Member?

A:

I am a City of Carson Council Aide. I work with our City Council and Mayor resolving constituent service requests, perform a wide variety of administrative, community relations and support services duties for Council members, I conduct research and analysis related to City policies, procedures, operational programs, budgets, or other issues related to City business. I also prepare oral and written reports of findings for individual City Council members and perform research on a variety of community and/or legislative issues to better assist our city residents. I work directly for the Community. I am a former City of Carson Youth Commissioner 2009-2013. I also volunteer with NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) and help raise mental health awareness in Carson and our surrounding neighboring Southbay cities. I am an environmentalist and volunteer with CFASE (Coalition For A Safe Environment) and help advocate for reducing pollution in Carson and all Southern California. I am prepared to continue and be the voice for our beautiful multi-cultural community. I will utilize my strong education and work experience to write policy/ordinances, resolve constituent service requests, and be a true leader who leads by example for our children to Senior Citizens.

Q:

What does Transparency mean to you, and how will you ensure Carson’s city government is accountable to its residents?

A:

Transparency means honesty. Transparency is being trustworthy and having credibility.  We need transparent leaders in office. I am honest, have a clean background, and I am professional who will always be accessible to the residents of Carson. I will improve the quality of life for our Carson residents and our Carson City Hall Employees. I will be an example for all our Carson residents. I will be respectful to our employees, residents, and businesses. I will help our residents thrive and have a voice through our City government involving our community in all aspects.

Q:

Carson was able to pass a structurally balanced budget for the first time in years, how do you plan to maintain this balanced budget?

A:

I will utilize my skills and research analysis, my education (MBA) Master’s in Business Administration to help forecast and create finance budget summits/ leadership workshops and work with our Finance department to provide concise comprehensive updates that will establish projected revenue, expenses, and perform preliminary analyses. It is important that we maintain a balanced budget and increase our benefit packages to our part-time and full-time city employees. I also will work with our Finance department to seek out grants/revenue assistance for our residents suffering during and post covid-19 pandemic through county/state/federal funding opportunities bringing these resources to Carson.

Q:

What specific policies will you advocate that will benefit the residents of Carson?

A:

Specific policies would entail implementing a moratorium on all evictions and mobile home park closures first. I want to write a written mobile home zoning ordinance that would zone mobile home estate property locations so developers cannot sell this land to other developers. I will also write policy to help our City Hall Employees through leadership/professional development, create more Union jobs, fill all open vacancies, and create a mentorship bridge program for our residents creating job opportunities for High School and College graduates.
I will also write policy on improving our infrastructure and building local business renovation remediation small business grant programs for our Carson storefronts. I also want to write policies that will help Carson residents and businesses save money transitioning to eco-friendly, zero emissions, hydrogen, renewable solar energy manufacturing, transportation, and reduce our carbon footprint in Carson.

I want Carson to be an example city and I will write policy to create a single-family homes project, that will help our high school and college graduates buy their first home creating generational wealth for our Carson families.
